When Is A Black Guy Not Hassled By The Man?

When the Man is looking for a terrorist, not a drug dealer or robber.
In America, blacks and Latinos are often guilty until proven innocent when the police are looking for a drug suspect. As politically incorrect as it may sound, it makes perfect sense for police to use racial profiling against blacks and Latinos when looking for suspects of drug-related crimes. Even though statistics suggest that white Americans are the largest consumers of illicit substances it is almost always people of color involved in the production, distributions and sale of these illegal narcotics and are most often targeted in the War on Drugs. I’ve always said that the only way to completely put an end to racial profiling against blacks and Latinos by law enforcement is to decriminalize drugs.
That said, I don’t believe racial profiling makes any sense when protecting Americans from terrorism. Those Americans who support racial profiling as a counter terrorist measure are probably the same idiots who think Africa is a country and Mexico is a continent. Why doesn’t racial profiling work to sniff out would-be terrorists? Because the terrorists in question are of the Muslim faith, and like Christianity, Islam is a religion, not a race. Muslims come in all colors. Since 9/11 we have encountered white American Islamic terrorists, a Hispanic Islamic terrorist, Chinese Muslims and an array of Islamic terrorists of African descent and/or origin. In terms of numbers, Islam in the U.S. has been the fastest growing faith, but by blacks and Latinos, not by immigration from the Arabian peninsula. The country with the largest Islamic population in the world is Indonesia, nowhere near near Arabia but in the south Pacific. The majority of black people worldwide are Muslim, not Christian.
As I had written in a previous entry, the next Islamic terrorist is not going to look like Aladdin. Al-Qaeda knows the U.S. is going to be looking for someone with stereotypical Arab features, so the obvious solution for them is to train terrorists who do not fit that description. This is how Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab (I think I spelled his name correctly) slipped under the big, dumb radar, despite the fact that the terrorist’s father contacted the American Embassy in Nigeria several weeks ago, warning them of his son’s radical fundamentalist leanings . The fact the this kid was able to get through customs and even board a plane heading to the United States is proof that our current President has not changed the counter terrorism protocol as set by President George W. Bush. Apparently the game is still the same, and only the players have changed. Obviously no one can expect President Obama to fix every wrong-headed aspect of the U.S. government, but counter terrorism should be somewhat of a priority for a President that has been in power for over a year. Maybe he shouldn’t be working on health care, writing stimulus checks and playing mascot for the U.S. Olympic Committee.
Now, in an attempt to overcompensate for its reckless under reaction, the Federal government is now overreacting by adding Nigeria to a list of nations labeled as “state sponsors of terrorism” such as Libya, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan and Yemen. This is a ridiculous and embarrassing move on the part of the Federal government, especially when it is led by a President of partial African descent whose snap judgments mirror that of a white supremacist redneck rather than the son of an African immigrant. While I should admit to having some bias in favor of Nigerians, there are some obvious reasons why the country should not be considered a terrorist factory. First of all, only half of all Nigerians are Muslim with a large Christian population of 40 percent, a small number who practice traditional pagan faiths and even Judaism. Not exactly Pakistan or Yemen, now is it?
Furthermore, you can’t condemn an entire nation based on the acts of one individual. The United States and the United Kingdom have produced more Islamic terrorists than Nigeria has, should the U.S. and Britain be labeled state sponsors of terrorism, also? Is this Al-Qaeda’s plan, to train terrorists from as many different countries as possible until our list of state sponsors of terrorism includes every nation except the United States? It has been suggested that bin Laden deliberately chose all 19 of the 9/11 hijackers from Saudi Arabia in an effort to drive a wedge between the two nations, a strategy that seems to have been a success since that nation is also on that list of state sponsors of terrorism.
Thirdly, further study of Nigeria proves that most Nigerians, even the Muslim ones, have little to no reason to hate America or to hate, period. A 1993 study conducted by the British magazine New Scientist polled happiness in 65 countries concluded that Nigerians are the happiest people in the world. Hardly the definition of a society whose people would be likely to scream “death to America”or call the United States “the great Satan.” In case you were wondering, the countries with the second, third, fourth and fifth largest percentages of happy people are Mexico, Venezuela, El Salvador and Puerto Rico, respectively.
Lastly, Nigerians have huge economic incentives to stay on Washington’s good side. The United States is Nigeria’s largest trading partner in exports and third largest in imports. What do we Americans buy so much from Nigeria? Petroleum and petroleum-based products, two things we can’t get enough of. Why would Nigerians have any reason to hate Americans? If they’re not selling us their natural resources, they’re scamming America’s most gullible marks by pretending to be Nigerian high-ranking officials or royalty enlisting all-American morons to “help” launder non-existent millions of dollars by providing these Nigerian “princes” with their Social Security numbers and banking and credit card information or a “deposit” of several thousand dollars. Would Nigerians really want to hurt this nation of suckers who are so easily talked out of their money?
Just remember, Mr. President: use racial profiling in our counter terrorism efforts, and the terrorists win.
