A New Direction, Online and Off
Posted by: Not The Only One in Free State Project, PersonalI always knew I was right, I just never knew how right I truly was.
For years I’ve used this blog to, among other things, rant about the relentless statist bullshit I encountered on a daily basis, whether it was on the local, state or national levels. And in New York City, there is no shortage of government invading our personal lives at the whim of a mayor who thinks big government is the swellest thing since sliced bread and a City Council that pays its members a a starting salary of $112,000 a year, not counting additional committee stipends and generous campaign contributions from grateful special interest groups.
Well, I got sick of living in this police state/kleptocracy and worse, paying into the system which keeps it alive. For more details, refer to my previous entry. My fiancee and I made the move 300+ miles north and are now residents of Manchester, New Hampshire. We’ve even changed our phone numbers to the area code of our new home state. And yes, we are very much involved in the pro-liberty movement, working alongside and exchanging ideas with libertarian socialists, agorists and Christian anarchists.
How will I’m Not The Only One change?
For one thing, I will keep discussing the failed socialist experiment which is New York, but not so much in the tone of an angry taxpayer but rather as someone who is glad to have move to a much freer state and city. I will be making comparisons between Manchester and the Big Apple and the Granite State and the Empire State, as I am constantly awestruck on an almost daily basis at how many of the problems that are so common in New York are non-existent here.
And you can be sure that I will be promoting the Free State Project as well as the numerous local pro-liberty organizations that pursue various political causes (gun rights, marijuana legalization, home schooling, government waste, informed juries, lower taxes, legislative efficiency, etc.). With the exception of Texas, the states with the largest populations are also the states with the highest tax burdens, the highest number of rules and the most intrusive governments. They are home to millions of people being crushed economically and politically by their state governments, and I feel like an evangelist telling hundreds of non-believers that there is another way to live, an easier and less expensive way of life where the government and its thugs do not intrude into almost every aspect of one’s personal life. For all of my readers who live in places like these, I hope my blog can offer some insight on life in a free state, where civil liberties are respected
Is New Hampshire a perfect model of limited government? No, but it’s a lot closer to that than many other states, and the FSP is all about getting freedom-loving people to this state to make change, whether it be through civic participation or civil disobedience.
I will gradually make changes to this blog, including the theme. Hope you stick with me as INTOO takes a new, more positive direction.
